Global Day of Prayer for Climate Action
April 5, 2016, will be marked by Christians around the world as the Global Day of Prayer for Climate Action. Organized by our friends at Young Evangelicals for Climate Action, The Lausanne Creation Care Network, and A Rocha International, the day will provide an opportunity to join hands and voices with Christians all over the world and to lift up our concerns about climate change—and the people most affected by it—to our God.
Visit the official website to learn more, download prayer resources, and find messaging tips. Will you consider organizing a prayer event with your church, neighborhood, or family this April 5th?
Good Seed Sunday
Every year, A Rocha organizes a Good Seed Sunday where they encourage congregations to focus their Sunday worship on the goodness and beauty of creation. This year Good Seed Sunday is on April 24. Their Good Seed Sunday website supplies everything congregations need to participate. Consider sending the link to the pastor or worship team of your church, and encourage them to participate!
Host a Watch Party
Host a watch party on April 21 for Micah Challenge's new documentary: For the Love Of, a film created in solidarity with the global impoverished who have been feeling the impacts of climate change but have done the least to cause the problem. Join the journey of Christian worship leaders at the COP21 Climate Summit where they met with impacted individuals, leaders of the climate movement, and religious leaders from around the world to discover some of the realities of climate change. Text INVITE to 97779 to RSVP.
Advocacy Opportunity: Tell World Leaders to Sign the Paris Agreement
The adoption of the Paris Agreement in December 2015 was monumentally historic. While it was an important first step toward global action on reducing climate change, it still remains no more than words on a page. Not until countries decide to ratify the Agreement will it come into force. That’s why the Interfaith Climate Change Statement is urging world leaders to step up and sign on to the Paris Agreement during the ratification period (April 22, 2016, to April 21, 2017). You can join with thousands of others in calling on world leaders to sign on to the Paris Agreement by adding your name to the Interfaith Climate Change Statement.
