Every church worships. From the grand cathedral style sanctuary, to the home church, to the church that meets in a school cafeteria — this is CRC worship. From the pipe organ, to the drum circle, to electric guitar and bell choir — this is CRC worship. Worship Ministries is thrilled to launch this new project for the year to promote unity in our CRCNA churches around worship. Our denomination worships in diverse and beautiful ways, but we all worship one God. How can we highlight the wonderful differences of our worship practices while marveling at the ways God is drawing us together as one to worship each week? Watch this short introduction to get a taste of what is to come this year. Don’t forget to post your photos of worship with #thisiscrcworship.

Book Discussion: Our staff is spending the next few months reading and discussing “The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America” by Thomas King. We encourage you to get a book and join us in reading, learning and growing in our awareness of indigenous history and culture. Regardless of if you are in the United States or Canada, this is an opportunity to know more about our sisters and brothers of indigenous background and better understand their history and culture. If you’re interested in participating in a group conversation, email us at You can also create your own group and follow along with this book study, including videos, from the CRC’s Canadian Indigenous Ministry.

Prayer Requests: As we worship together, we are united with God and with one another. Over the next year, we’ll include a few short prayer requests. Please join your heart and your voices as we pray for these things together.

  • Pray for the global church. Rev. George DeVust (Ukraine) and Rev. Joseph Nyamutera (Rwanda) participated in a conversation, hosted by Rev. Joy Englesman and shared about current events in their countries. Let’s be in prayer for the global church, especially Ukraine and Rwanda this month.
  • Pray for our bi-national church. Let’s be in prayer for our denomination as many Classis are hosting their spring meetings this month and all eyes are turned to Synod gathering in June. Pray for the CRCNA
  • Pray for our local churches. As the Omicron wave passes, let’s pray for our churches and our leaders who are fatigued and gearing up for the Lenten season ahead. Pray for our congregations.

As always know that you remain in our prayers. If there is something specific we can pray for or if there is another way we can support you please email

Symposium Roundtable Conversations

Thank you to the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship for their annual symposium which again offered wonderful opportunities for worship and for learning. Worship Ministries has the privilege of offering follow up conversations with several of the presenters over the course of the next few weeks. The schedule for these follow up sessions are posted on the Network and the recordings can be found on our YouTube page.

Classis Regional Gatherings

Won’t you be my neighbor? Worship Ministries will be hosting virtual gatherings by regional classis throughout the year. These will be opportunities to meet other worship leaders in your geographic area and hopefully build connections for future collaboration and interaction. Look for more information and get excited about an evening hour of fun(!) and friends.

Sermon and Service Packages

Worship Ministries was grateful that the January 2 sermon and service package was able to be used by so many churches to give pastors and staff a week off after Christmas. We appreciated the feedback we got from you and look forward to 2 more of these packages coming this summer for use around the CRC’s annual gathering of Synod (June 11-17). Calvin CRC in Grand Rapids, MI and The Tapestry Church in Vancouver will both put together services that we hope are widely used by churches to not only offer a Sunday off, but also to be unified as a denomination in our hearing of the Word and worship. More info to come.
