The Ripple Effect
What is the ripple effect of Coffee Break in the lives of those who attend, their families, the church in which they meet, and in the neighborhood where they serve? That’s the question we set out to explore in this collection of articles.
The book of Acts tells about the ripple effect of the gospel story. The Holy Spirit equips the disciples with power to share God’s good news—first in Jerusalem, then in Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth. What happened as the gospel message rippled out? The powerful encounter with the gospel changed lives: the man who was lame walked and the persecutor became a disciple maker. The gospel impacted relationships: believers shared possessions and Jews ate with Gentiles. The gospel impacted communities: $5,000,000 dollars of sorcery product was destroyed in a fire (Acts 19:18-20) and the good news spread as believers began to share it in their neighborhoods.
“In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.” (Acts 19:20)
God’s word and power is spreading and rippling through Story Hour and Little Lambs. Circles of children meet God in stories on the carpet. They act out God’s story, sing about the story from their car seats on the drive home and read the stories on story cards with their families.
Coffee Break groups dig into God’s story through personal study, conversation and reflection on the Word. We know that God works powerfully through scripture. What ripple effect do you see taking place and how can we join God in spreading his word and power?
