Safe Church Webinars Continue!

As we head into summer and fall we have a great line up of webinars each month for Safe Church Coordinators, team members, pastors, ministry leaders and anyone who wants to learn more about building a church community where everyone is respected and protected. No reason to worry if you missed a good one - several of our webinars are recorded and available for listening at any time. Why not listen with others and discuss what you are learning? Hey, that might be a great idea for a safe church team meeting or a church council training!

Why the ACEs Study Matters

What does the study of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) have to do with church? What do we need to know to minister well? Join our Webinar on Wednesday, July 29th at noon Eastern Time to find out. Our guest will be Tara Boer, a certified ACEs instructor, who teaches in the social work department at Dordt University and who also serves as Safe Church Coordinator in Classis Iakota and Classis Heartland.

S.O.S. (Sharing Our Stories) Triggered Tuesday

We need to know that sexual trauma is not an event, it’s what the experience leaves behind in one’s daily life, and the impacts can be devastating. What is it like to live with the trauma of sexual abuse? Is healing possible? We need to lean into these stories, to listen and to learn, so that we can respond with understanding and compassion.

Help in the Midst of Trauma

Not all of us will experience acute trauma from a single traumatic event. Yet we must not ignore troubling symptoms, which might be attributed to more complex and varied trauma. Many of us have experienced various situations that seem to overwhelm our resources to cope. That’s especially true during this time of Covid-19, racial upheaval, and general uncertainty on so many levels. What are some of the symptoms to watch for, and where can we go to find help?

Circle of Grace

Safe Church is pleased to have a growing partnership with the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in Canada, offering a webinar and supporting churches as they implement the Circle of Grace program. More and more churches are using Circle of Grace as a way to equip children and youth in creating a safe environment for themselves and others. We are excited to partner with the MCC to prevent abuse and build healthier relationships and communities for the next generation.
