As I reflect on this past year, I am reminded of these words the apostle Paul wrote to the believers in Philippi: “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel . . .” (Phil. 1:3-5).
At Safe Church Ministry, we are so grateful to you for the ways in which you already participate in and support the work we are doing with congregations throughout the Christian Reformed Church in North America. Can we count on your continued partnership with a small financial investment before the end of the year?
Through the power of the Spirit at work in our congregations and through our work together, we are seeing churches grow in their desire to be places that are free from abuse and places that support the healing of people who have been victimized by abuse. Our hope and prayer for the coming year is that this desire will translate into concrete initiatives that can nurture and strengthen a culture of goodness in our churches that resists abuse in all its forms.
To this end, we are working hard at Safe Church to develop resources to equip safe church coordinators, safe church teams, and ministry leaders in this work. Over the next year, we hope to launch online abuse-of-power training materials so that all ministry leaders and office bearers can gain greater awareness in how to steward power in ways that lead to the flourishing of congregations. Additionally, we plan to develop (online) trainings in trauma-informed ministry, restorative practices, becoming an active bystander, and creating a basic template for abuse prevention and response training for church volunteers. Finally, because so many of you have indicated your appreciation for our webinar series, we plan to continue offering quality conversations with experts in areas related to abuse and the church to continue inspiring work in abuse prevention, awareness, and response in our churches.
You can play a significant role in supporting these initiatives and more witha year-end gift. Any amount will help to continue and extend the ministry of Safe Church. And if you choose to make your donation a monthly recurring gift, you will strengthen this ministry for years to come.
