Trustees Unanimously Elect Rev. Lopez & Ms. Ramos Meier to Lead Board of Education

At the 139th Annual Meeting of the Yonkers Board of Education, held by video conference May 12, 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trustees re-elected Rev. Steve Lopez and Ms. Judith Ramos Meier to serve as president and vice-president respectively. Both will serve one-year terms in their leadership posts. 

The Board's Policy Committee meets Monday, May 18, 2020 at 4:00PM, and the Board's May Stated Meeting will be held Wednesday, May 20 at 5:00pm, both by video conference. All public meetings of the Yonkers Board of Education are streamed live, accessible from the website.

Reminder: Distance Teaching & Learning Continue For the Rest of the Academic Year

Hard copies of Instructional Material: Parents/Guardians who need printed copies of instructional material for their child should contact their child’s school or submit this form. Material will be mailed to your home via the United States Postal Service.

Calendar Change: Based on the Governor’s Executive Order, distance teaching and learning in session Friday May 22, 2020.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 25, 2020, a federal holiday. Schools are closed. 

Student Working Papers: Young people eligible for employment can get the necessary Working Papers and Medical Forms on the District website. Everything you need to know about how to submit your documents during the COVID-19 closure is here

Request for Alternate School Bus Transportation for the 2020-2021: Applications must be returned on or before May 29, 2020. This applies to In District and Out of District students. Please remember this is an annual application.

Annual 5th Grade Spelling Bee Cancelled: Because of continuing concerns about COVID-19, the annual 5th Grade Spelling Bee has been cancelled. We look forward to resuming this cherished citywide tradition next year. 

Moving Up Observances: Moving Up festivities for PreK-5, PreK-6, and PreK-8 schools will take place in a virtual environment. School principals will keep families informed.

High School class of 2020 commencement ceremonies and plans for #Yonkers2020Grads are still in flux, pending additional guidance from the state.

100,000 Meals Served Since March 19, 2020

We are grateful to the Yonkers Public Schools Food Services staff who have prepared and served 100,000 Grab 'N Go meals to the children of Yonkers since March 19, 2020. They are amazing! 

We are also humbled by the generosity that makes weekly deliveries of food by Feeding Westchester possible. Bags are packed by Yonkers Public Schools staff and distributed to Yonkers families in need at the Grab 'N Go sites on Thursday mornings. 

Every child under the age of 18 in The City of Yonkers is welcome to these FREE meals at any of our 9 sites Monday through Friday from 8:30AM - 11:30AM.
