Cheat Sheet: Super Bowl Menu

If you live in the U.S., odds are you'll spend a good part of this Sunday in front of a TV watching the Super Bowl and eating lots of good (though probably not good for you) food.

Even the most diehard sports fan can't deny  the Super Bowl is almost as much about food as it is about football! So what do you have planned for your Super Bowl menu?

There's no need to scour the Web trying to find the best big game recipes. We got you covered!

Top 5 Super Bowl Food Faux Pas

Millions of people will party with friends on Super Bowl  Sunday. If you're throwing your own party or bringing food to a potluck, here are a few food faux pas you'll want to avoid.
  1. DON’T try out a complicated new recipe the morning of the big game. It's pig skin, not guinea pig. If it's a recipe you haven’t made before, save it for another time when you have the time to make mistakes.
  2. DON'T serve dips in very large bowls. Instead, separate them into smaller servings (perhaps with a spoon for double dippers). This will prevent discoloring and abandoned sunken chips from turning into a mess.
  3. DON'T place all the food on the same table. Folks on the other side of the room won't want to get up every 5 minutes for more chips. Plus, consolidating all the food in one spot is just asking for a traffic mess during commercial breaks. Buffet tables work best when you wan walk around the table completely... pull your table out from the wall and let your guests walk around the table and it will help with room flow.
  4. DON'T tell a host that you'll bring a prepared dish and then show up with groceries expecting to make the recipe on-site. Just finding a clean countertop may be a challenge, and asking the host to use their appliances is just plain inconsiderate.
  5. DON'T bring just a six-pack of plain-wrap canned light beer (ya know, the kind that comes in a "specially lined can that tastes like a bottle").
