Regulating One’s Internal Thermostat
By Kathleen Krol, LCSW, RPT
Kathleen KrolAfter a cool start, spring has arrived with its warmer days and longer nights. Soon it will be summer and the end of the school year. At this time of the year, patience can wane and internal thermostats can rise as family members spend more time together. Awareness of our own emotional stress threshold can be overlooked in the day to day hectic shuffle of life and coexistence in a family or personal relationship.

Good communication skills tend to slide with the people with whom we are closest: family and significant others. So how do you monitor your internal thermostat and maintain good interpersonal skills to minimize overheating?

Sitting in meditation before the bombing
By Dean Salon

residing in the center of the mayhem of this world---residing in the center of you---is peace.
residing in the center of the madness---residing in the center of you---is sanity.
residing in the heart of darkness---residing in the heart of you---is light.
residing in the center of the commotion and the roar of the crowd---residing in the center of you---is silence.
residing in the heart of the disconnecting from all that is---residing in the heart of you---
is connection, is compassion, with all that is.

This is a group for moms interested in meeting other new mothers in a warm, supportive and nonjudgmental environment to talk about the ups and downs of being a new parent.

Discussions are based on specific needs of the mothers, with topics including expectations of self as a mother, normal feelings ranging from joy to anxiety to frustration, considerations about staying home versus returning to work, taking care of self while taking care of a baby, and relationships with significant others.

Mental and emotional alignment with the present moment powerfully transforms fear and allows us to be where we are. Practicing presence opens you to a range of emotion and experience and  transforms the nervous, immune and musculoskeletal system.

Learn how to mindfully pause in any situation, give yourself non-judgmental attention, and develop a home mind-body practice. Dr. Tetlow will also share a gentle, free and healthy way to detoxify the body using the "elimination diet".
