Clearing Your Home to Create More Space

Spring has sprung and thus the time for renewal. Like the necessary spring cleaning, how can we clear and make change internally? We must first have a desire to change and secondly decide what we will do differently in our lives to bring about such change. While this can seem obvious, it might be one of the hardest things to accomplish.  So ask yourself, “What do I want? What do I really want?” Now what practice can you put into place to change the course you are on? I would like to challenge you to imagine that within your body there is an abundance of resources. I invite you to imagine that when you take the time to clear the clutter you will find more space and within that space you just might find you. 

From a somatic perspective, the clearing starts within the physical body. So what practice are you doing that can physically clear the accumulation of stress and unnecessary burden you are holding? Your body is your ultimate home, which gets a whole lot dustier than your house! If you want to change, it helps when your body feels the change you desire. Every moment you have an opportunity to change in the extraordinary movement of the breath. And so it is with physical movement. When the body moves, more space is created to welcome growth and change.

Once the body has released via movement, I also invite you to take time to go within. To be quiet. To listen to your Self. We are so stimulated from the external world that many of us have lost connection to ourselves. So meditation, or inward reflection, is another essential practice to help align us with the health that we desire. Despite the fragmentation that our society has indoctrinated us with, the mind, body, emotions, and spirit are inextricably linked, and all realms need to be exercised and strengthened in order for our whole to be whole.
