Somatic Psychotherapy with Jodi Schwartz-Levy, PhD
Somatic Psychotherapy is a pioneering field of therapy that bridges the worlds of bodywork, psychotherapy and the healing arts. The foundation of the work states that the body holds our life experiences and by paying greater attention to the body's language, in particular, sensations, breath, movement and other nonverbal cues, somatic tension (that is both emotional and physical) can be released.

Jodi is one of a small group of psychologists worldwide with a doctorate in this field, making her a specialist in mind/body integrative health. She works in collaboration with other mental health providers when they feel their clients need more body-oriented treatment than they can offer. This is often necessary in cases of trauma, psychosomatic issues, as well as for helping to regulate the nervous system (seen most often with anxiety and depression). Jodi offers individual somatic psychotherapy, educational workshops, professional trainings and individual supervision. On June 11, she will be leading Somatic Tools for Anxiety Reduction, which offers 6 CEU's for licensed marriage and family therapists, counselors, and social workers. For more information on Jodi's work, please visit her website. You can also contact her directly at or 215-370-7878.

Professional Networking Breakfasts
Mark your calendar and plan to join us every 1st Wednesday of the month for our free networking breakfasts. They provide a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity to connect with healthcare and healing arts practitioners from a variety of professional backgrounds, to share your expertise and passion for the work, and to make meaningful contacts in growing your practice. To learn more or RSVP online for future meetings, or call Elizabeth Venart, Resiliency Center Director, at 215-542-5004.

Join Our Online Community!
While we love connecting in person, our online community forum provides an opportunity to discuss topics and share resources from the convenience of our individual offices or homes – at times that work with each of our schedules.

Join us  and tell us about your practice, discuss what keeps you resilient in the work, and share favorite resources and interesting articles. It is a wonderful way to continue the dialogues begun at the monthly networking breakfasts, to announce new groups and workshops you are offering, and to share news about exciting new ventures in your practice. We look forward to seeing you there!
Our professional development programs are unique in several ways. We keep class sizes small, focus on creative and innovative approaches to the work, and provide plenty of opportunities for experiential learning and interactive dialogue. Workshops are $175 when you register early or bring a friend, and breakfast and lunch are always included.  Additional discounts are available for students and new professionals on a limited basis.  Call with questions or to request a brochure at 215-542-5004 – or register online today. Somatic Tools for Anxiety Reduction
Friday, 6/11, 9 am – 4 pm
Physiologically, anxiety is a hyper arousal of the nervous system. From this perspective, participants will learn about the causes of anxiety and how to work directly with the body to engage the parasympathetic nervous system. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how an accumulation of somatic tension through emotional suppression creates anxiety and how to bring more grounding and calmness into the body.

By the end of this program, participants will gain an understanding of how they can use somatic interventions for their clients with anxiety. They will achieve a deeper understanding of the biophysical energetics of anxiety. Additionally, through experiential exercises, participants will receive an embodied experience of how the bodily realm can be integrated into psychotherapy. Register online today or call Elizabeth Venart, Resiliency Center Director, at 215-542-5004 for information on how to register by mail.

This program is our final professional training program of the Spring. Stay tuned for information on exciting new Fall programs - and a few favorites brought back by popular demand!
