Our 5th Anniversary Celebration
Thank you to everyone in the Resiliency Center community for making the past five years so successful and special. It was a joy celebrating with many of you on September 18. We look forward to continued growth and resiliency in the coming years.
During our gathering, attendees were invited to express their thoughts on resiliency and here is what they said.
Resiliency is:
-
Strength through adversity
-
The ability to stay centered in crisis, always trusting your gut intuition and acting on it.
-
Reworking yourself continually, a work in progress.
-
Bounce, bounce, bouncing back!
-
Breathe in love; release fear.
When asked to share activities done to promote personal resiliency, here is what we learned:
We dance, laugh, walk, journal, talk with friends, hang out with children, pray, meditate, cook, do yoga, help others write, stay centered, exercise, walk the dog in the woods, bicycle, chant, sing, make art, stay positive, have a sense of humor, stay connected to loved ones, make time for new experiences and social connection.

A Golden Hammer
By Dean Solon
the Master said:
"i bless the connection,
i disdain the attachment."
forgetting His words for a moment,
i dozed for many years,
i slept for many lifetimes.
then a golden hammer
tapped me
squarely
on the forehead.
in a moment
that opens
as eternity
i hear the Master say
"i bless the connection,
i disdain the attachment."

Please note: Meditation with Dean has been canceled on Thursday, Oct 3, 7:30 pm and Monday, October 7, 8:30 am.

Resiliency Through Managing Anger
Monday, 10/21, 6:30 - 8:00 pm
One of the many ways that we can increase resiliency is to learn how to control anger and express it in healthier ways. Improving anger management can elevate self-confidence, decrease feelings of victimization, improve relationships with others, boost self-control, and heighten overall joy and satisfaction in life. Each of these things in turn contributes to higher levels of personal resiliency. Led by Kim Vargas, LCSW, this session will focus on better understanding the root causes of anger and finding practical ways to manage it.
