2014 is not even two months old and we've already seen a range of developments at the Brixton Pound since the start of the year. Here's a brief overview of what's been happening...

We're very excited about our local lottery that will launch later this year - another first for a local currency. We held a Made in Lambeth design day on Saturday 18 January in Jalisco in Brixton Village where we invited people to come and help us decide on things like the branding, and how our community fund will work. You can read about how the day went on the Made in Lambeth website and on Brixton Buzz.
In the lead up to launching the Brixton Bonus we are running a number of incentives and competitions. Our refer a friend and earn B£5 was very popular and has now closed. Our new offer involves increasing our business network. If your favourite Brixton Business isn't signed up to accept pay-by-text and you can persuade them to do so, we will credit your account with B£20! Email email@example.com if you'd like more information about this.
On Thursday 27 February we hosted the first of our co-working events to bring together local freelancers and home-workers. More and more people work from home or out of cafes, but it is often not the opportunity to meet other people that we hope it might be. The first event at Kaff Bar was attended by around 20 people from a wide range of backgrounds and professions.
As a result of this successful venture we are happy to hold another in a month's time (Thursday 27 March) at a venue TBC and on the last Thursday of every month thereafter. Keep an eye on our Twitter page and also @BrixtonCoWork for more details.
The Brixton Pound has always been a collective effort of core staff who run the currency, volunteers, directors, local businesses, researchers, and of course users. We thought that it would be nice to hold a monthly open invitation meeting that brings these various groups together to discuss their interest in the Brixton Pound and offer an easy opportunity to get more involved.
Meetings are always on the first Tuesday of every month at 6pm at varying Brixton locations. The next meeting is on Tuesday 4 March at Market House. Look forward to seeing you there!
