This month's eNews includes a brand new metal/rap genre explosion, desert reggae, a soulful siren, adorable pop/folk and a killer hardcore track. Something for everyone. Click through to listen to the songs and to learn more about the artists and as always feel free to share the fresh music from the NT.
Catherine Satour - "Set The Tone"
Central Australian singer songwriter and NT music mentor Catherine Satour has just released a gorgeous self-titled EP and the lead single "Set The Tone" has got us wanting more! The sensual track is about respect and self-love and it does a superb job highlighting Catherine's stunning vocals and her refreshing rock/soul fusion direction.
Darwin's hardcore scene has been pumping out some true quality tracks in 2016 and "Coward" by We Burn Bridges is no exception. The track made the finals of the NT Song of the Year Awards and has some serious energy and complexity to it. An epic and furious vocal performance and tight instrumental delivery - it's a brilliant first single from the young band.
Katherine folk artist and dual NT Song of the Year finalist the delightful Serina Pech is about to undertake her first Australian tour! Her track '"I Hope To See The Sun" is a sweet taste of what you can expect from her live shows. Serina will share her musical mix of curiosity, honesty and pop/folk goodness across the nation throughout August.
Eastern Arrernte Band - "Santa Teresa (I Got Lonely)"
The 2016 Bush Bands have been announced and one of the bands heading to Alice Springs on August 28 is Eastern Arrernte Band from Santa Teresa. The emerging band is being mentored by desert legends Eastern Reggae and you can hear the influence in their track "Santa Teresa (I Got Lonely)". Undeniably desert reggae, slick guitar solos and dance-inducing beats.
Four legends of the NT music scene have combined forces in an epic metal/rap genre explosion. Symbiotic is a new collaboration between Dan the Underdog and Gareth Dawkins and their track "Dopin Out" also features the vocals of SkankMC and Pirate. It's a furious track with a ridiculously raw metal riff, mean chorus breakdown and solid rap verses.
