New research collaboration aims to tackle global societal challenges through design

"Ballet des Porcelaines" at MIT


Architecture's Kristel Smentek collaborated with MIT history professor Jeffrey Ravel to stage a series of discussions and class visits related to the complex context of this 18th-century ballet recently presented at MIT with the support of a 2022 Visiting Artist Grant from the MIT Center for Art, Science, and Technology.

Microscopy technique reveals hidden 
nanostructure in cells and tissues


Separating densely packed molecules before imaging allows them to become visible for the first time. Researchers across MIT, including from the MIT Media Lab, authored the study published in Nature Biomedical Engineering. More in MIT News.

Interpreting public housing in America


Marisa Morán Jahn (SMVisS ’07) was recently selected for the 2022 Artist as Instigator Residence at the National Public Housing Museum, a fitting opportunity given public housing’s centrality to the lives of the low-wage workers and immigrant families with whom she works.

Open Enrollment is the only time each year to make changes to your health care and other benefits choices. You have through Friday, November 18, to update your benefits elections. Student flu vaccine requirement

All students are required to receive a flu vaccine before November 18. Failure to meet the flu vaccination requirement will result in the student’s loss of building access (except their residence hall) and a registration hold for IAP and second-semester classes.
