Spring 2022 Half Term 2

 Dear Parents/Carers
I would like to offer a warm welcome back to all our students. I hope they have had a restful half term break.

In this bulletin, you can find out what is coming up this half term including important dates for your diaries. During this half term students will be taking part in World of Work Week and will have a chance to participate in the Everyone A Writer project, which has been launched in school this week.

Following the recent Government changes to the COVID-19 guidance, further information will follow shortly to parents and carers.

As always, we appreciate your ongoing support.

Meadowhead School Employer Fair
Tuesday 22 March, 9am – 4pm

World of Work Week offers the chance for every Meadowhead student to have a meaningful encounter with someone from the world of work. We are looking for volunteers to support our employer fair, which is open to around 1,800+ students aged 11 – 18. Students will attend for a 25-30 minute slot with their teacher throughout the day.
Stall-holders would typically represent their organisation or a society or professional body. We encourage stall-holders to bring something visual, hands-on or interactive to encourage students to engage with the stalls. We want students to develop their understanding of a job, an industry or how their school subject might be used in future. We are also looking to open an after-school slot (3-4pm) so Meadowhead parents can attend the fair with their children to raise their awareness of future opportunities.
Lunch will be provided. If you can't attend the full day, but would still like to be involved, we are still very happy to hear from you. Please email if you can support this event.
A Guide to Wink for Parents

Wink is a messaging app which allows children to connect and communicate with other users. In a similar style to Tinder, Wink uses the swipe method for browsing profiles and accepting or declining them. Once two users have accepted each other by swiping on each other’s profile, they can then communicate and play games online together. The fact that Wink allows children to share photos, personal information and their location with other users has caused significant concern.

In the guide, published by National Online Safety, you'll find tips on a number of potential risks such as grooming, cyberbullying and inappropriate content.
