The Antigo Public Library welcomes Kristie Heistad as our Youth Engagement Specialist. Heistad began her duties on October 24. Her role will be implementing and managing library programs and services that engage the community with the library.
Heistad is a long-time employee of the library serving as a co-branch manager with Marlene Straley at the Elton Branch from 1988 – 2019, and then as a library clerk here in Antigo for the past three years after the branch closed. During her time at the branch Kristie conducted many years of summer reading programs and story times for young children.
“I am so excited to bring my love for children’s learning to this new position,” Heistad said.
“Kristie is very passionate about early childhood literacy and has been a strong champion, advocate and promoter of our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program and our story times,” said Library Director Ada Demlow. “I can’t wait to see what happens when she brings this enthusiasm to her new role.”

We had a great time on October 22 at our Jigsaw Puzzle Competition with 12 teams competing for fun and prizes. Two teams finished the puzzle and three other teams came really close. All teams enjoyed a time of fun and fellowship complete with coffee and scones.
We have received some awesome book donations lately, including a LOT of really fun cookbooks. Stop by the library between 10:30 - 1:30 on November 11 and 19 to shop for cookbooks and more.
Also, mark your calendars for November 21. That is the day our annual magazine sale begins. Purchase bundles of past issues of your favorite magazines.
All proceeds of these sales benefit the Antigo Public Library Foundation.
