Dominic presented at the May County Board meeting about library services and funding which was also mentioned in the recent Antigo Daily Journal article.
We are looking for library champions to speak on behalf of the library and your favorite library program or service at city and county board meetings so we can increase library funding and services to all the residents of Langlade county.
Here are some sample statements:
- "Thank you for your current support of the library. Our library needs additional money after 20 years of flat funding".
- "Thank you for the work you do for the residents of the city/ county. Our library deserves to see an increase of funding because of (why you love or believe the library is awesome) and we want to see it grow".
- "Thank you for your support of the Antigo Library. Children are starting schools in Antigo unable to read and the public library has programs like summer reading and storytimes every Wednesday specifically for kids and parents to prepare their children to succeed in school. They also visit area daycares, Headstart and Boys and Girl's Club to reach children who may not be able to get to the library."
- "Thank you for your support of the library. The Library does outreach to deliver items to homebound residents in addition to assisted living and nursing homes throughout Langlade county. My friend/ relative loves getting materials from the library this way."
Meetings of the elected officials are in the evening so that the public can attend. Appearing and speaking definitely makes an impact as they take community feedback seriously and want to provide the services their residents care about. Public comment is at the beginning of each meeting and you may have to sign up to speak.
Langlade County board meetings are the fourth Monday of every month in the county Safety Building at 5:30pm.
City of Antigo council meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month at Antigo city hall at 6pm.
