The Recognition Gap: Make Sure Your Team Feels Appreciated

Dan Pink gathered the data to prove engaged employees value recognition more than a financial bump (though throwing money at the problem would be so much easier!) Even knowing people want to feel appreciated, Carolyn Wiley’s research reported that “while 80% of supervisors claim they frequently express appreciation to their subordinates, less than 20% of the employees report their supervisors express appreciation more than occasionally.” We’re thanking the employees, but they don’t seem to notice. What’s a manager to do?
