The Sheffield Documentary Film Festival: 4th - 8th November
Sheffield Doc/Fest is the UK's premiere documentary film event - with an audience of international decision makers, film professionals and public. It is renown as one of world's best launch pads for new documentaries. It's happening in Sheffield city centre later this week from 4th - 8th November. We will be heading to Sheffield to take part, so if you would like to come along to some of the events do get in contact and we can arrange to meet up with you and share our picks for the festival with you.

An evening with Tipping Point Film Fund
You are invited to come along to find out how to get more involved with supporting Tipping Point Film Fund. During the evening we will be introducing the idea behind our 360° network. Come along and meet up with a group of individuals who believe in the power of people and film to make change. The event will be held on 12th November in central London but there will also be a chance for people all over the UK to take part online. As part of the evening we will be hosting a special screening of one of the most highly acclaimed documentaries so far in 2009. Want to find out which film we will be screening? Come along on the night and all will be revealed! With thanks to dogwoof for allowing us to show this film.  You must RSVP if you want to attend this event.
Please note: This is NOT an industry event.

Could you be a Tipping Point Film Fund 'Angel'?

If you would consider becoming a fund 'Angel' to please do get in contact – we would love to talk more to you and share our vision.

Films, Festivals and Events

From London to Sheffield...
We have been spoilt for choice with film festivals recently, with London barely drawing to a close before Sheffield gets underway. This year's London Film Festival saw some amazing films being shown in the capital. Our favourites and ones to watch as they start their journey onto screens around the country were:

Reclaiming the cinema at the Take One Action festival

Tipping Point Film Fund co-founder Deborah Burton recently went up to Edinburgh to take part in the Take One Action Film Festival symposium on reclaiming the cinema, alongside Oli Harbottle from Dogwoof and the one and only Mike Bonanno, the campaigner and director of 'The Yes Men Fix the World'. This amazing documentary is a testimony to the moral power of satire and we would definitely recommend it to all. You can check out some of the antics that 'The Yes Men' get up to in the film online for free now, or if you prefer there are still a few screenings taking place in the UK over the next few months - scroll down to below US screenings to see where.

One to watch: The Vanishing of the Bees
Bees are dying in their billions. In the UK alone one fifth of the honeybee hives were lost in the winter of 2008/09. The Vanishing of the Bees is an eye opening account of the shocking truth behind the declining bee population. The film will make a vital contribution to raising awareness of the plight of the bee. The film, like Tipping Point Film Fund is supported by The Co-operative, take action today as part of their Plan Bee campaign

Project News

'The Road to Bethlehem' has secured more funding for completion.
Tipping Point Film Fund is delighted to have raised a further $20,000 Canadian dollars to go towards the final editing of the film 'The Road to Bethlehem'. The film's director Leila Sansour is hard at work on the edit of the film at the moment and we will keep you up to date with news of the film's completion.  Read more.

Why we need 'Here Comes the Sun'
There is a need for a film that promotes debate on the real alternatives to coping with the climate crisis, especially as the Copenhagen climate talks taking place in December are widely predicted to fall short of what's needed. Find out more about the film 'Here Comes the Sun' and how you can get involved in climate change campaigning.
