You might have noticed that the April e-newsletter has not yet arrived! I didn't forget. I was half way around the world...having fun, being inspired and learning about the world. Take a look where I had the opportunity to go...
Seeing Through Rose-Colored Glasses
"Seeing through rose-colored glasses" often refers to an optimistic perception of something; a positive opinion; seeing something in a positive way, thinking of it as better than it actually is.
But maybe there is more to these “rose-colored glasses” than you think... What impact does color and light have on your seeing, comfort and productivity in life? Let's explore the effect of what special colored lenses can do for a person.
Hellerstein & Brenner Vision Center
doctors and staff just completed a NeuChroma Vision Inc. (NCV) certification workshop to learn how to more effectively and efficiently prescribe NCV tinted lenses.
Eyesight is different for each person, similar to fingerprints. Each person is unique and so are the tinted lenses we create to help them see well. Take a look at the NCV kit to the right, and imagine how many color combinations could be created by combining the lens plates. It is estimated that there are at least 500,000,000 different lens combinations with the NCV kit!
Why would a patient want a NCV evaluation?
Here are some of the typical symptoms of patients that may be helped with NCV lenses:
Letters or words move/wiggle/disappear when reading
Light induced migraines or seizures
At our workshop, we evaluated 10 patients. 80% of the patients responded positively to NCV lenses.
Listen to these patients’ comments after their NCV evaluation and use of the tinted lenses:
“I never thought I’d be able to see like this. The movement and waves of light have stopped. The colors have more depth, the sparkles and glare are gone. Now I can walk through stores and buildings feeling that I am present in the room, not surviving to avoid looking around.”
"With these NCV lenses, I feel more calm. My balance is better and I'm more confident in walking stairs without the handrail.”
– 22 year old female with a history of migraines, extreme light sensitivity. Currently, she is an artist who was concerned that she may never be able to hold a job in an office building. Working under fluorescent lights triggered migraines. After wearing the lenses, she sobbed and expressed her excitement, "I think I might be able to work in an office now."
“WOW! I can read so much easier. Do you know what these lenses could do to increase my work productivity?”
– 60 year old female
“I didn’t realize that the print moved when I read. It stops with these lenses! I’m excited to try to read again, something I’ve avoided for years.”
– 55 year old male – college professor who complains of light sensitivity and headaches under florescent lights.
– 61 year old male with a history of 14 concussions.
As a developmental optometrist for more than 30 years, I've had great success in changing lives through lenses, prisms and vision therapy. Adding NCV tinted lenses to my treatment tool box, expands the success of increasing comfort, productivity and well-being of my patients. NCV tinted lenses can be used for kids and adults.
I am thankful for Brad Chase, Inventor of NeuChroma Vision Inc. and the entire Board of Directors for allowing me to be a part of this new, cutting-edge technology.
…and the amazing experience of changing people’s lives through vision goes on!
With love and gratitude,
Lynn Fishman Hellerstein, O.D., FCOVD, FAAO
