BURBERRY X TENCENT
This past Thursday, the British luxury brand Burberry said it has joined forces with China's Tencent for a new digital marketing and sales push to tap China's increasingly social media savvy shoppers. Burberry said it will open a so-called “social retail” store in China’s technology hub, Shenzhen, powered by Tencent technology in the first half of next year that will blend retail and social media to create digital and physical spaces aimed at attracting new customers.

DFS FACIAL
The DFS Group has become the first international retailer to activate WeChat facial recognition payment outside mainland China. Authorized by the government of Macau, the DFS Group has trialed 10 WeChat facial recognition devices at T Galleria DFS. With the facial payment technology, DFS and WeChat aim to enhance their customers’ experience by doing away with QR codes. WeChat facial recognition payment, however, is only available to customers with a valid Chinese form of identification.
