Neighbourhood Love

Do you know your neighbours?

We feel it is important to get to know our neighbours as much as our members. After all, we're part of a broader community. The ice storm that led to #darkTO in late Dec certainly taught some of us that our neighbours are important and vulnerable, and that even the simplest gesture of help or hope is welcome.

We've also started to show our love for our neighbours with a series of Neighbourhood Love posts on Facebook. You can scroll through our feed and look for the posts that are tagged with #shoplocal. We've got some awesome neighbours!

Anyway, on to our newsletter. It's a short one this time, but in this issue:

Wanted: Community Manager
We're looking for a new community manager to join our team. It's a barter opportunity where we ask for one day per week in exchange to unlimited usage of our space.

It's perfect for someone who is looking for office space to run their business or study for school. You'd join our great team of community managers and enjoy all of the benefits of membership in our coworking space.

Contact us for details! And please tell your friends about this opportunity.

Hackernest Construct - Contest Alert!
Our friends at Hackernest are throwing a hackathon at the Ryerson DMZ. There's a $2500 grand prize and a heap of other awesome prizes to win.

Mind & Motion is all about spiffy next-generation interface devices like neural/gesture controls, augmented reality, wearables, tablets, and all the funky stuff you see in movies. You can bring/build any demo-able platform/device that (even remotely) fits the theme.

Students can get in for $10 with ID and it's still super affordable for regular hackers too. However, we're giving away two tickets! Simply tweet this (but fill in the blank) by Feb 17 and two winners will be chosen at random and announced the next day.

Hey @Camaraderie, I think the coolest wearable technology is ______. #constructcontest

Enter as many times as you want, as long as they are different answers. Must be a public tweets in order for us to see them. Remember to get your tweets in by Feb 17. (Otherwise you can sign up at http://hackernest.com/construct)

SpeechEasy

Have a fear of public speaking? We hear the best way to get
over it is to just do it.

We want to help, but we don't want to be stuffy about it. We're starting a casual monthly speaking practice group
called SpeechEasy.

Practise with your peers the 3rd Thu of each month, starting Feb 20 at Camaraderie. Sign up at http://bit.ly/SpeechEasy.
