November 2011 Newsletter

It's November, and two major things happen this month: National Novel Writing Month and Movember.
The former (NaNoWriMo for short, or NaNo for even shorter) is a personal challenge to write a 50,000 word novel in the 30days of Nov. It's not without support, though, since there are thousands of folks around the world doing the same thing at the same time, and communicating with one another, attending writing sessions, and hanging out for social events to lament about their runaway plots and unruly main characters. It's a wonderful example of camaraderie, and was the beginning of the story for Camaraderie. Co-founders Wayne and Rachel met in the Toronto NaNo group years ago, and continued getting together with friends throughout the year in between Novembers. They didn't realise it was coworking all along, and as their friendship grew, so did the need for a shared workspace for their individual businesses. Years later, Camaraderie Coworking Inc was born! The challenge of writing a work of fiction is a great exercise in dedication and commitment, and if the person writes ~1,667 words per day, the sense of accomplishment is tremendous. Interested in trying it out? Find the awesome Toronto group and get started!

Movember is also a great example of camaraderie but with a very different outcome. Movember is a personal and team challenge to grow a moustache for the 30days of Nov to raise funds for men's health, specifically prostate cancer. Sure, normally clean cut guys walk around town with creepy moustaches growing at oddly different rates, but each year the amount of funds raised grows like wild! (heh no pun intended) Find some awesome local teams and donate, or get started on your own 'stache today!

News, news, news!
There's plenty going on at Camaraderie these days. Come on in for a visit to meet the folks behind the magic. (and by that we mean our members - there are some awesome folks who work from this space)

1. We have a daily deal on FabFind today: $10 for One Day of Collaborative Office Space Use at Camaraderie - please share with all of your friends, and by all means take advantage of it yourself.

2. We have an additional startup room available, suitable for 5-8 people. If you know if a startup or existing established business that is looking for space, please send them our way.

3. We're looking to build up our events calendar for the new year. Are you a facilitator looking for workshop space? Are you an expert in something and want to bring together some folks to share your knowledge? We'll even help to spread the word.
