2015-16 Stone Lab Field Trips

Stone Lab, Ohio State's island campus on Lake Erie, is currently booking field trips for the 2015-2016 school year. Fall is a great time to visit the lab, and early field trips can keep students engaged in learning for the rest of the year.


Field to Faucet Initiative Unveils New Website
Ohio State's Field to Faucet initiative, which aims to address harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie, has launched a new website that provides an overview of currently funded projects.


PSA Contest About Marine Debris for Ohio Students
Students from Ohio Congressional District 9 are invited to create a public service announcement to bring awareness to the issue of marine debris.

The Summer 2015 Great Lakes Region Quarterly Climate Impacts and Outlook are now available from NOAA's Midwest Regional Climate Center and Environment Canada.

Lake Erie algae bloom spreads to Cleveland

Scientists who study Lake Erie say this summer’s growing toxic bloom is almost certain to be the worst on record. The bloom, which started in the western part of the lake in June, has stretched to Cleveland and could still grow. The bloom is on pace to peak in September.

Ohio Environmental Council Green Gala 2015

Former Ohio Sea Grant Director Dr. Jeff Reutter will be honored with a lifetime achievement award at the 2015 Green Gala, held at COSI in Columbus on November 14. Tickets are now available from the Ohio Environmental Council.
