New Twine Line Now Available

The newest issue of Ohio Sea Grant's Twine Line includes stories on the Bicentennial of the Battle of Lake Erie, newly funded research into Lake Erie recreation, and a novel use for the age-old problem of what to do with dredged sediments.

2014 National Marine Fisheries Service-Sea Grant Fellowships
Two joint Sea Grant - National Marine Fisheries Service fellowship opportunities are now open for applications: in Population and Ecosystem Dynamics, and in Marine Resource Economics.

EDUCATION

From Stone Lab to Alaskan Science
Former Stone Lab student Liz Schababerle now works at the Sitka Sound Science Center in Alaska on projects that record whale sound underwater and apply the findings to helping fisheries and whales co-exist in a more sustainable way.

OUTREACH

An Evening With Stone Lab
Ohio Sea Grant and the Friends of Stone Lab will host the 16th Annual Winter Program on Jan. 21. Learn about the lab and bid in the silent auction; college students can meet former Stone Lab students and win a Stone Lab scholarship.

Lake Erie Day Supports Stone Lab

Visitors to the Progressive Mid-America Boat Show at Cleveland’s I-X Center can learn about Lake Erie with fun and educational activities, and support Stone Lab's research, education, and outreach efforts by purchasing admission on January 20, Lake Erie Day. The Lake Erie Marine Trades Association (LEMTA), donates $1 from every admission ticket purchased that day to Stone Lab student scholarships.

Great Lakes Commission-Sea Grant Fellowship

Applications for the 2014-15 Great Lakes Commission-Sea Grant Fellowship close February 28, 2014. The Sea Grant Fellow works with members of the Great Lakes science, policy and information/education communities to advance the environmental quality and sustainable economic development goals of the Great Lakes states.

2015 John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowships

The Ohio Sea Grant College Program is now accepting applications for 2015 Knauss Marine Policy Fellowships, a federal program sponsored by NOAA's National Sea Grant College Program. Application materials for the 2015 program are due to Ohio Sea Grant by February 14, 2014 at 5 p.m. EST.
