Dear Valued Donor,
Palestinian father Iyad Ahmed Marouf lives in a tiny house made from metal sheets. He shares this space with his wife and eight small children. Their makeshift home doesn’t protect them from the freezing winter temperatures, and constant power cuts in Gaza mean that they can’t use electric heaters. Iyad’s children must scavenge scraps of firewood from the sides of roads.
Living in cold and wet conditions during the winter months means that Iyad and his family are at risk of developing sicknesses like pneumonia, that can easily kill young children.
A terrible flood
To make matters worse, their home has been flooded. Huge amounts of icy water poured in through holes in the roof, soaking the family. Under pressure from the heavy rainfall, the damaged roof collapsed on to them while they slept.
Iyad’s children are crying from the cold. The flooding means that they can’t light a fire to keep warm. At night, temperatures drop to below zero. The family are freezing. They don’t even have proper mattresses, winter blankets or warm clothes. Iyad and his family cannot survive much longer in this terrible situation.
Families like Iyad’s are in desperate need of your help
Human Appeal is on the ground in Gaza this winter, providing lifesaving aid to families like Iyad’s. However, we can do nothing without your support.
£250 will provide shelter essentials to stop rainwater flooding into the homes of vulnerable families, so that they can stay warm and dry. £165 will give a family with defenceless small children warm clothing, blankets, mattresses, food and fuel. These gifts could save the lives of Iyad and his eight little ones.
You can stop winter killing today.
