Dear Valued Donor,
Nearly 8 weeks on from the start of the crisis in Myanmar, 603,000 Rohingya Muslims have been forced to flee to Bangladesh after a vicious military attack. More than half of these refugees are children.
They arrived in border towns like Cox’s Bazar with nothing more than the clothes on their backs and are now living in truly desperate conditions. Children are wandering over the muddy ground, suffering from diarrhoea and skin diseases. Contaminated water and human waste is everywhere.
A desperate humanitarian situation
Bangladeshi officials report that 20,000 women are currently pregnant and 600 have given birth since arriving. However, these numbers are almost certainly an underestimate as many births are taking place with no formal medical help. Babies are being delivered on the side of roads, in the open air, surrounded by refuse.
Give these little ones their childhoods back
No child should be denied food and clean water. No child should be living without sanitation facilities or basic healthcare. No child should be cut off from receiving an education. However, this is the reality for vulnerable little ones sheltering in Bangladesh. They need our help more than ever.
An emergency kit costs just £100 and can mean the difference between life and death for a Rohingya family. You can save a precious life today.
