This is the weekly newsletter from Loaf in Stirchley, keeping you abreast of our bakery and, once we can re-open it, our cookery school.

This week we have some exciting news about the Co-op of the Year award! Can you guess what it is?

But first, if you would like to pre-order your bread and pastries for the coming week, our website is now open.

We have plenty of bread and pastries on the shelves too, with lunches served from noon on weekdays. Scroll down for this week’s lunch menu.

Thusday: 12-6
Friday: 12-4
Saturday: 9-1

Loaf is the UK Worker Co-op of the Year!

A couple of months ago we were told that Beccy from The Active Wellbeing Society had nominated us for the Co-op of the Year awards. Throughout April we canvassed for the popular vote and then in June a panel judged us by a criteria known only to them. And on Wednesday the result was formally announced.

Because there’s no ceremony this year we recorded a short acceptance video.

The award arrived last week and we’ve been displaying it with pride.

There’s also a nice case study on the Co-operatives UK website.

Thanks to everyone who voted. It’s great to be recognised not just for what we do but for how we do it.

Lunches this week

Note we’re closed this Wednesday for staff training. Apologies daal fans!

This week's sourdough pizza is mushroom, kale, pesto, caramelised onion and mozzarella (V) on sale Thu and Fri.

The soup pot will be serving the following with a slice of sourdough bread:
Fri: summer squash, chard and chickpea curry (Ve).

Thursday's focaccia sandwich is pea hummus, roasted fennel, carrot slaw and watercress (Ve) with optional goat’s cheese (V).

Savoury snacks include our famous sausage rolls and vegetable rolls, available all week, plus ham & cheese and walnut pesto & cheese croissants on Thursday and Friday.

Lunches are made fresh every day for 12 noon. Our menu for the week is on the website here.
