Cultivating a Future for Oregon's Farmers

FoFF's 2013 Legislative Priorities & Rally Day in Salem

The 2013 legislative session is underway! FoFF is leading the charge to pass legislation important for small family farms across Oregon. In fact, two of our bills are among the first to receive public hearings, including HB 2700, which would establish an Oregon Beginning and Expanding Farmer Loan Program (aka Aggie Bonds). Learn more about our 2013 legislative priorities, and take action today!

Tonight's InFARMation (and Beer!) event in Portland provides a great chance for you to learn more about these issues as we talk with State Representative Ben Unger, FoFF Policy Director and farmer Ivan Maluski, and Oregon City Farmers Market Manager Jackie Hammond-Williams.

Also, remember to mark your calendar and RSVP now for our second annual Family Farmer & Rancher Day at the State Capitol. Farmers, ranchers and concerned consumers from around the state will gather in Salem to meet with our legislators to discuss the importance of local agriculture and the need for policies that support our farmers, ranchers and eaters in creating and sustaining the kind of food system we would like to see in our state.  It's a great opportunity to participate first hand in the legislative process and promises to be a fun time for the whole family.

For additional information, or to participate in the Farmers Market Display in the Capital Galleria, contact Leah or call us at 503-759-FARM(3276).

Food & Wine Establishments Support FoFF

Opportunities to Dine, Drink and Donate!

Friend of Family Farmers invites you to support the wonderful businesses that support us!
  • Johan Vineyards in Rickreal produces socially and environmentally conscious wines under their Farmlands label and generously donates a percentage of their sales from these wines to Friends of Family Farmers each quarter.
  • Genoa Restaurant in SE Portland offers authentic Italian cuisine and Accanto is their lively cafe next door.  Together, they're hosting a FoFF fundraising dinner on February 20th.  Ten percent of all sales will go directly to support our farmer programs.  Come early, stay late!  Make your reservations today!
  • Food Front Cooperative Grocery has two locations in NW Portland and Hillsdale, making it easier for you to shop there during March and April when they'll be featuring FoFF as their Cash Register Fundraiser.  Purchase local produce and sundries and support sustainable, socially conscious agriculture at the same time.  It couldn't be easier!
  • Plan ahead for March 14th, when Sunshine Tavern will be generously donating 10% of all sales to FoFF.  Enjoy dinner, drinks and shuffleboard in this family friendly establishment and support FoFF all at the same time.
  • Special thanks to Cozmic Pizza in Eugene for their ongoing support of Friends of Family Farmers.  Not only do they donate their space to host our monthly InFARMation (and Beer!) event, they contribute 30% of their sales for the evening as well.  Check them out the first Sunday of the month for good food and lively farmer topics.
Special thanks, also, to Pacific Pie Company in Portland for being an ongoing supporter of FoFF and hosting a Come Eat Pie for FoFF Day on January 15th. We had a fabulous time enjoying delicious sweet and savory pies (and stocked up our freezers to enjoy them at home as well) and received 10% of the day's sales.  A great day all around!

Do you represent a business that would like to support FoFF?  We'd love to talk with you! Contact Lori or give her a call at 503-759-FARM (3276).
