Heroes in Muckboots!

FoFF's Work in Support of Farmers and Eaters Makes an Impact

Our Family Farmer and Rancher Day at the Capitol was a huge success and we are grateful to all of our farmers, ranchers, volunteers and supporters who turned out in Salem to meet with our legislators. Read Policy Director Ivan Maluski's new blog, "Muckboots in the Capitol" for a recap of the event and other recent developments, check out the Capital Press article, and view photos from the day to relive the memories or see what you missed.

We also want to take a moment to thank our many supporters for helping FoFF earn Edible Portland's 2013 Local Hero Award in the non-profit category.  We share this award with many fine Oregon businesses and establishments who make Oregon a great place to eat, work and live.  And speaking of work:

Urgent Action Alert:  Bad Seed Bill Headed for Oregon Senate Vote
Your help is needed to stop SB 633, which will be voted on in the Oregon Senate as soon as next Monday.  This bill would block all county and city rules and laws intended to address the "display, distribution, growing, harvesting, labeling, marketing, mixing, notification of use, planting, possession, registration, storage, transportation or us" of seeds or the products of those seeds (yes, that means plants and food).  It's primary goal is to block an emerging number of county level efforts to address issues with genetically modified crops (GMO's), including a ban on GMO crops scheduled for a public vote in Jackson County, and is an attack on the ability of local communities to establish locally appropriate rules to protect small farmers and local food supplies.  Click here for more information and contact your State Senator today!

April Fundraisers for FoFF!

Support Merchants who Support Local Farmers!

  • Join us today,  April 11th, as The Grain and Gristle hosts a generous fundraiser for FoFF, donating 10% of all food sales from the evening to support our farmer programs.  Enjoy a locally and sustainably sourced dinner at this pub-style restaurant and visit with FoFF staff.  We'll be looking for you!  Read our great article about the folks behind The Grain and Gristle and why they choose to support FoFF here.
  • During April, Food Front Cooperative Grocery in Portland is featuring FoFF as their Cash Register Fundraiser.  100% of the donations made at the store will be given to FoFF to support our farmer programs. Every dollar counts and your support of Friends of Family Farmers goes a long way toward making Oregon a great place to live and farm.
