Canola Hearing Re-Cap and Oct. 5th Deadline

Thanks to everyone who came out to Salem for the canola public hearing and rally to support our specialty seed growers and organic farmers in the Willamette Valley. The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) took testimony for hours, primarily from articulate and passionate farmers, ranchers, gardeners and concerned citizens who opposed the rule.  You can read all about our efforts and successes in our Hearing & Rally Report.  We received quite a bit of media coverage you can review and you can view this wonderful photo album to get a real flavor of the event.

ODA is likely to move forward with their rule that will expand canola planting starting in Spring 2013 despite public opposition. FoFF is taking steps to prevent the expansion of canola production into areas that are currently protected. We need your help. Here's what you can do: To receive action alerts on the canola issue please contact Leah Rodgers, Field Director.
