Growing Together

DNA groups are a big part of what is happening in Kent Chi Alpha. Students are growing and being challenged in every area of their lives as they commit to meet together and be focused on Jesus. In August, we got connected with a freshman named Jessica through one of our alumni. She quickly found her way into a DNA group. It has been amazing to see Jessica grow in her relationship with Jesus, find her place in the XA family and start to actively be engaged in God’s mission. When asked about DNA she said, “I look forward to meeting with my DNA group each week. I’ve gotten a lot closer with my friends, and have been discovering so much about Jesus. Although I’m not a morning person, DNA is my favorite way to start my day.” Another student who was saved last year from a Muslim background says, “DNA is a big part of my spiritual growth with Jesus and my family in XA. This has helped me to grow up in my faith.” Please pray for continued growth and fruitfulness in and through the current DNA groups and pray that more groups would form.

Almost a dozen students from Kent State made the journey to Houston, Texas this January for the fourth World Mission Summit. They drove thousands of miles together to take part in an historic gathering of over 6,000 Chi Alpha students from around the nation. While there they were challenged to be involved in missions work for Jesus around our globe. I’m excited to witness what this stereotype busting mass of “millennials” will do as more than 2,000 of them committed to giving a year to missions (while praying about doing so for life)!
This summer Raelyn and I will be taking a small team to the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, & Lithuania). The numerous Chi Alpha groups in the Great Lakes region have committed the next several years to helping establish healthy student groups across this european region. We are excited for this strong, collaborative, effort between multiple AG World missionaries & XA in our area. Please pray for the needs of our team, and the overall planting effort in the Baltics!
The family is doing great! So far this winter we have had minimal sick days, and minimal use of the snow shovel. The boys continue to grow (and eat, and eat...) faster than we realize. Raelyn and I are busier than we have ever been, and yet have been experiencing a steadily growing joy through the craziness. Life following Jesus, though is hard at times, never fails!
The month of May will mark the completion of 2 terms (8 years) that we have been leading Kent XA! We are so amazed at the multiplied ways God has been at work in this ministry, and in us. Starting this spring, and into the summer, we will be raising about $500 in new monthly support so that we can start our 3rd term this coming fall. We love talking about what Jesus is up to out here, and are already starting to schedule times to share with individuals and groups. Pray as we are, that our soon coming season of iteneration would benefit the Church in many ways.
