Travel & Training
If you study Jesus life you will observe that he spent a lot of time on training his disciples. It was an important priority for him before leaving. Jesus said “Go and make disciples of all nations...teaching them to observe all that I have commanded youâ€.
Often our summers are busy with travel and training, this one was no different. We spent a week in Columbus helping teach at CAST (Chi Alpha Student Training). It’s a great investment in new XA students from all around the state. In fact one of our students was baptized in the Holy Spirit while there! Another week was spent in Springfield, MO as Jesse was completing 60 hours of coaching training (a requirement for coaching certification). This training will benefit our efforts in student development, and create other ministry opportunities. Most recently we spent a week in Phoenix with almost a thousand fellow Chi Alphans (families included) at Campus Missions Conference. CMC happens every four years and is one of the best investments we can make in our personal and professional growth. We came back refreshed and energized as we head into the fall startup.
We have also been spending time discipling students and developing staff this summer. Nicole, in the picture above, is joining our staff as a campus aide this year. She is an alumni of Kent Chi Alpha and is an answer to many years of prayer for additional team members. She loves Jesus and has a heart for students from around the world. Her help will be invaluable this year! Would you pray with us for her success in raising her budget for this year of ministry? Additionally, if you sense that you should help her financially, please let us know.
Pray with us. We are preparing to meet as many students as possible during the first two weeks of class. We will be doing lots of tables, events, parties, and other relationship building stuff pretty much non-stop to help them find their Jesus-community with Chi Alpha. Then with all these students we will work to change the campus for Jesus! And at some point...Raelyn will be giving birth to Silas James! Reality is starting to sink in, he could come at any time now. We need Jesus, obviously :)
