Grant Park in the Atrium

In 1934, Swedish expatriate Arthur Antonius Anderson published Stoft, a collection of Swedish poems praised by Nobel Laureate nominee Watson Kirkconnell. For his long service towards Swedes in Canada, especially work done with the Swedish American Line, he was awarded the Royal Patriotic Service Award Gold Medal by the King of Sweden. Anderson was appointed Swedish Consul by Lester B. Pearson in 1955 and his tenure was extended to 1962. His work was rediscovered by his granddaughter, Laurel Anderson-McCallum, and translated into English.

Laurel Anderson-McCallum is a retired teacher and mother of two lovely daughters. A Resource Teacher for over 25 years, she has also held a variety of volunteer positions and also served as a teacher of New Canadians.
