We received this note today regarding our project to return Frank Moore, a 90 year old WWII veteran and legendary angler, to Normandy to fly-fish the rivers that he saw as a soldier.
"I am a veteran; while I am not a combat veteran, I can understand what is being done here. It is a tremendously good and honorable thing, at that. I was only able to donate $25.00 seeing as I am currently unemployed, but if that money gets Frank a single step closer to the goal at hand then I will sleep a little more soundly this evening. Thank you, Frank. Thank you for helping to save the world when it was calling upon you to do so."
To all who have contributed thus-far to Frank Moore: Mending the Line, we offer a HUGE thank you! The timing and fundraising goal of our project is ambitious, but each of you is now an integral part of the equation that will make this a successful campaign. For those who have not yet contributed, we still have 61 hours left in our campaign. That's Friday at 12:00 PM.
Frank will be joined by his wife of 70 years, Jeanne. 70 years of marriage together is extraordinary. But imagine what it will mean for Frank to return to Normandy, France with Jeanne to share in the experience of fly-fishing those streams he crossed in WWII as a 21 year old soldier.
With 61 hours remaining, you may wonder if reaching the goal is possible, or what happens if the goal is not attained. Worthy questions.
Is reaching the goal possible? Frank Moore: Mending the Line is now backed by 306 financial supporters. That’s an army. If each of you reach out to your friends, family, fly-shops, veterans organizations, and recruit an additional $100, in those few short hours, our goal will be met. That means for each of you, finding one person who will support at $100, or finding 4 people who will contribute at $25. None of us need convincing that this is a worthy project, and those you reach out to will not require a lot of convincing either. We have an army of supporters…in the remaining 61 hours, lets harness the power of that.
What if the goal is not reached? At the same time that we have been raising money, we have also been working with our field producer in France to successfully reduce our expenses while traveling. Because this campaign is not an all-or-nothing proposition, we collect all funds raised even if the stated goal is not met. We are very pleased to say that the project is going to happen. The amount of money that we are able to raise dictates the type and scope of film production we can coordinate to share the experience with all of you. It is our expectation that we deliver the highest quality production possible, reflective of the scale of mass support we have already received, and worthy of Frank and his story. We only have one shot at this, and we all want it to happen, and happen right.
So again, THANK YOU for your contribution, and please consider supporting us one more time as we round the final turn and head toward the finish line. Facebook posts and tweets are great, but it is those personal connections, the coffee chats, the phone calls, that are going to really move the needle.
