"People may not remember exactly what you did or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel." - Tony Hsieh (CEO/Founder Zappos)
Hard to believe 2010 has come and gone! While making the various lists (both personal and business) for 2011, I began to ponder upon the year gone by. I thought of all the wonderful people we have worked with and met and wondered - “What type of impression did Palmetto Grant Consulting leave behind? Did we make them feel positive and helped in their mission?” Our goal for this New Year is to ensure we do everything we can to help you in working smarter, not harder.
In light of that goal, I’m including several links for your perusal. The first is the all-new, free Nonprofit Tagline Database & 2011 Report provided by Nancy Schwartz. The Database, together with the fully-updated 2011 Nonprofit Tagline Report, are key tools in crafting taglines, organization names and other messages that connect and motivate action. Access both nonprofit tagline resources here.
The SOFII collection aims to be the most comprehensive, best organized, and most inspiring collection of fundraising related content from around the world. It provides free access to the world's leading fundraisers who share the distilled wisdom of their experience in digestible bite-sized nuggets that you can use immediately. Check out the website.
And, I would be neglectful not to mention the brand new website Grant SpaceSM offered by the Foundation Center. GrantSpaceSM, a service of the Foundation Center, offers information and resources that are specifically designed to meet the needs of grantseekers. GrantSpaceSM is the place for grantseekers to find in-depth content, engage with other grant seekers and funders and, learn more about how to be a more effective fundraiser. Did I mention it is a free service?
Hopefully, these websites and the other free resources mentioned in this issue will assist you in working smarter with positive results in funding for your organization. Best wishes for a happy and prosperous 2011!
Today’s Grant Website:
The Foundation Center
Established in 1956 and today supported by close to 550 foundations, the Foundation Center is the leading source of information about philanthropy worldwide. Through data, analysis, and training, it connects people who want to change the world to the resources they need to succeed. The Center maintains the most comprehensive database on U.S. and, increasingly, global grantmakers and their grants — a robust, accessible knowledge bank for the sector.
It also operates research, education, and training programs designed to advance knowledge of philanthropy at every level. It also has a network of 450 funding information centers located in public libraries, community foundations, and educational institutions nationwide and beyond. You can access their database by either subscribing or, accessing the cooperative collection at a local library/learning center.
Palmetto Grant Consulting will be providing a workshop on March 29th at the Foundation Center’s Atlanta location (50 Hurt Plaza, Suite 150 Atlanta, GA). Topics will include the basics of grant writing and how-to steps for developing a grant calendar. Hope to see you there!
