Welcome to a month of Yin Yang balance in our new classes! How appropriate in the month of September when we celebrate the equal day/night balance of the Autumn Equinox!

We’re quite honored to welcome to Still & Moving Center and Hawaii a living treasure in the world of moving meditation: Dr. Sun Ock Lee from Korea. Based on her professional dance background and her training in Zen meditation, “Sunny” presents to us her practice of ZenDance. To relieve the tension of living in our complex, busy world, she gives us Stress Management Movement Meditation.

Notice the balance of our keiki classes: the groundedness of swords, the elevation of aerial and the flow of hula.  Earth, air and water - sorry, our insurance won’t cover kids fire spinning!!!

You'll love a dynamic duo that are joining forces to teach Yin Yang Yoga Flow! Two of our students are ‘claiming their magnificence’ by evolving into teachers in their own right! Lee-Ann Kong and Ciara Steynberg graduated from Claudia Castor’s Adhi Shakti 200 hour yoga training and have also gained high marks from our David Sanders for their teaching skills.

ZenDance with Dr. Sun Ock Lee   
 

Sundays 1:30-2:45 pm - starting Aug 27. Saturdays  1:30-2:45 pm - starting Sept 2. ZenDance awakens the body and mind, based on a beautiful ancient Korean meditation technique. It combines lower abdominal (tanjun) breathing, tai chi, meditation and dance. Stress Management Movement Meditation with Dr. Sun Ock Lee   
 

Mondays 3 - 4 pm  - starting Aug 28. Fridays 3 - 4 pm  - starting Sept 1. The purpose of Stress Management Movement Meditation is to enhance everyday life through awareness of the equilibrium of a healthy mind and body, via healing movement. Yin Yang Yoga with Dynamic Duo: Ciara & Lee-Ann Kong   
 

Thursdays 5:45 - 6:45 pm - Starts September 14th with a free introductory class! In this Vinyasa and restorative yoga combination class you enjoy benefits of flowing between both worlds. Start slowly with our deep, yin practice, move into a vinyasa flow, then close with a restorative yin. The tone of the class is light, so you walk out feeling as if you’ve been on holiday! Aerial Dance Level 2: Lyra (instructor approval) with Kezia Holm   
 

Wednesdays 5:30 pm. Transfers to Kezia on September 6. Given the lyrical, gracefully acrobatic movements aerialists can perform on this apparatus, it is appropriately called “lyra”. While upper body strength is cultivated by practicing lyra, it also provides beautiful resting poses. This class is for students who are able to get on and off the lyra without a spot. Yin Yoga with Ciara Steynberg   
 

Sundays 11 am -12:15 pm - starting Sept 10. Yin Yoga, also known as Taoist Yoga, targets connective tissue, specifically ligaments and tendons in the joints and spine. To lengthen the connective tissue, we extend the duration of the postures, engaging in static stretching. When the muscle is fully stretched, the stress reaches the connective tissue. In yin yoga, asanas are usually held for three to five minutes. Because of the long duration of asanas, one of the key values cultivated in the practice of yin yoga is patience. Groove Dance with Miranda Rudegeair

Kids Aerial Classes with Kezia Holm   
 

Sundays, 9:30-10:30 am - Kids Aerial Level 2 Class for 6-12 year olds. Sundays, 10:30-11:30 am - Kids Aerial Level 1 Class for 6-12 year olds. Mondays, 4:30-5:30 pm - Kids Aerial Performance Rehearsal Class. Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm - Kids Aerial Mixed Levels. Beginning through skilled keiki aerialists can find their way off the ground into the air at Still & Moving Center! Building on basic skills, kids add choreography and routine progression. Axion Sword Program for 8-13 year olds with Master Jonah Chin   
 

Tuesdays & Fridays  4 - 5:15 pm (starting August 1). Axion Sword’s junior program is building the next generation of healthy, confident, and motivated leaders. The sword has been a symbol of the hero in the imagination of children across cultures for generations. Seated Baby Hula with Mālia Helelā   
 

Tuesdays 10:15 - 10:45 am. We believe that the littlest keiki can dance hula and have welcomed dancers as young as two weeks old! Caregivers dance together with their keiki so that everybody learns something! Most hula are performed seated, so keiki can explore hula from the safety of a familiar lap. Keiki Hula Halau Series with Kumu Hula Mālia Helelā

Sundays: 7-12 year olds: 8:30-9:30 am. 3-6 year olds: 10:30-11:15 am. 14 classes: $225 for entire Autumn series. $20 drop-in (Drop-ins only allowed September 3 & 10). Participation in this hula halau (school) is one of the best introductions to Hawaiian language and culture. Children will learn both hula kahiko (ancient hula) and hula auwana (modern hula), with the basic steps as well as oli (Hawaiian chants). Children will learn a true appreciation for nature, as well as how to make flower lei.
