This dance, exactly on the day of the equinox, is dedicated to balance. The word equinox means “equal night”; night and day are the same length of time. So in this dance we honor the balance of yin and yang, of introspection and extroversion, of activity and rest. Sundays, August 27 through September 17. Price: $40 for series or normal drop-in rates. In this highly creative, interactive series, we learn to adapt beautiful existing Nia choreography to the song of your choice. We learn markers for knowing how to match new music with already known movement patterns. And we figure out how to reorganize the patterns to fit the new piece of music. Be ready to dance!

Participation in this hula halau (school) is one of the best introductions to Hawaiian language and culture.
