Junior Cricket

How they finished in 2020

Due to Covid-19, it was decided that as a Club, we wouldn’t enter an U15s team into the League for the 2020 season. However, many of these very able young cricketers still manged to get plenty of time pitch side, ‘playing up’ in the U17s, 2nds/3rds, 1st XI and the T20 teams. We also manage to arrange some friendlies with local teams, giving the opportunity for a few a the U15 fringe players a chance to shine, with them opening both the batting and bowling - and shine they did, with some very memorable performances, but most importantly smiles and laughter from both players and parents. Many thanks to Eagley CC and Farnworth Social Club CC for taking the time to come along and give us some great cricket!

Four of the U15s also managed to spend a week at Neston CC on the Wirral in July, in a tournament organised by Pro Cricket Academies. The standard of cricket was very high, with most of the players at District cricket standard or above. Our players did themselves and the Club proud, winning three Man of Match trophies over the course of the 5 days, and praise from the tournament organisers regarding both their ability and their conduct. Neston CC has some of the best cricket facilities in North West, and it was a great to watch all of our lads grow into the tournament and come away from the experience as much better players.

Egerton CC U17s 2020 Table

The U17s League struggled to gain any momentum due to a mixture of the weather and also cancelled matches due to cases of Covid-19 in other teams. As with the U15s, our U17s ‘played up’ and showed themselves to be very capable, they are the future of our Club and will been given every opportunity to show their talent in the Senior teams.

Club Opening Hours - April 2021

We will be following government and ECB rules regarding opening the club back up for the 2021 cricket season
Training will follow the dates outlined in the Training Section contained within this newsletter
From 29th March you will be allowed to meet outside in groups of up to 6 people or 2 households.

The Club will not be open during this initial opening, apart from the toilet and first aid facilities for teams.

From 12th April the club will be allowed to serve drinks, but outside only!

The Bar will be open

Friday       17:30 - 23:00

Sat / Sun  12:30 - 23:00 (matchdays only)

Tuesday   19:30 -22:00

Please note: the above times will be dependant on current COVID regulations in force on that day. See social media for any last minute alterations to opening times.

After the success of last year's use of the 'Round' App, we will be continuing to take orders for drinks and snacks using this really smart App. The feedback from you all last year was really positive - so much easier not having to miss a ball of play and have your drinks brought to the table or collect from the outside collection point!

Cricket in the Community

It has been a difficult year for many young people in our area, with most sports curtailed completely over winter because of lockdown, it was great to get a message from Mark Cookson at the Lancashire Cricket Foundation, to say that he was going to be attending an all day session at Walmsley School with their year 6 pupils, to introduce them to cricket and promote Egerton Cricket Club to the attendees.
As you can see from the Walmsley School 'tweet', everyone looks like they are having fun and enjoying themselves, even if the weather was a little on the grey side!
Mark will be visiting Egerton Primary very shortly and is hoping to get to the other local schools in the area soon.

Egerton Cricket Club's coach Amal Dulugada will also be arranging sessions with local schools as soon as the situation improves. If you would like to arrange this for your school, please contact and we will ask Amal to contact you.

Club Community Events

Egerton Cricket Club prides itself as being at the ‘heart of the community’, and the Clubhouse hosts many regular events and meetings unrelated to cricket. Here are just a few of the different groups meeting at the Club.

  • Strikerz FC HQ
  • Over 60’s Club
  • Pink Ladies Rounders team
  • Children’s music group
  • Parent & Toddlers

If you would like to find out more about the Club to see if it would be suitable for your group, then please get in touch at

Get Involved

So much goes on in the background to make Egerton Cricket Club run as smoothly as it does.
When you turn up at the Club to watch a match, the wicket has been prepared, the outfield has had a final cut, the bar is open, the Clubhouse is clean and well presented, the ouside areas have had the bins emptied and a freshcoat of paint has been applied to those areas that need it. There are a core of dedicated people working to keep our Club facilities in great condition, but they can’t do it all on their own!

You don’t need a skill or a talent to help out, just a few hours a week, or even from time to time would make a massive difference to those volunteers already giving up a bit of their time; if you think you would like to get involved, please let us know by sending an email and we will forward on your details to the Grounds Team. Or just turn up on the off chance someone is on the Ground and go and introduce yourself - you will be made more than welcome, and you will be put to good use!
