From the high cost of infant and child care, to the devastating racial disparities in maternal health, to the struggles of balancing work and parenting, there is much more that policy makers can and must do to support babies and their families. Right now, state budgets and policies are being drafted and we want to be sure lawmakers Think Babies and Act!

Here's why your advocacy matters

For healthy development, it’s imperative for infants, toddlers and preschool-age children to have high-quality early opportunities. Yet less than 2 percent of the state budget is allocated to child care, preschool, and other early learning services. Child care costs more than college, putting many young families in financial distress. And this high cost burden rests heavier on families of color who have experienced barriers to good jobs and other forms of opportunity.

Strolling Thunder™ is an opportunity for YOU to tell policymakers that access to affordable, high-quality child care matters, especially for infants and toddlers! Read about our last Strolling Thunder event.

The day features:
  • Stroll through the Capitol steps
  • Rally for action
  • Story-building, a photo booth and children's activities
  • Opportunities to speak with and deliver messages to your state lawmakers.

Babies, kids, the grownups who love them are welcome! We will provide fun activities and snacks. Please note that we will not be providing child care. Children are the responsibility of their parent or caregiver.

Join us at Strolling Thunder™ for an opportunity to learn, share your knowledge, speak up for babies and have fun. Learn more and sign up!

Thank you for speaking up for kids.
