One step closer to Dental Therapy for all!

Dear Friend,

Good news: Dental Therapy passed the House Health Care Committee today- advocacy works!
Our next step is to pass the bill out of the House Appropriations Committee by the March 1st deadline. One of your lawmakers is a member of the House Appropriations (budget) Committee-- please email them today to ask them to pass the bill out of Committee and send the bill to the House floor. At this point in session, time is of the essence. Act now!

No one should suffer without access to dental care. Yet, our state's dental care safety net is full of holes. Washingtonians of every background need high-quality, timely and routine oral health care performed by a team of licensed dental professionals: dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and — if authorized by state lawmakers — dental therapists.

By authorizing dental therapists, House Bill 1317 will expand dental care access where it is most out of reach, providing timely, quality care to rural, low-income communities and communities of color, and to patients who are publicly insured or uninsured. The bill's prime sponsors are Sen. David Frockt (D-46) and Rep. Eileen Cody (D-34).

Here's why your action matters today: By increasing access to care, dental therapists can address the racial and economic disparities in the oral health care system. To move forward, it must be passed in the House Appropriations Committee before next Friday.  Call on lawmakers to move this comprehensive solution to our dental care crisis forward for all Washingtonians!
Take Action!
Thank you for speaking up for kids.

Deputy Director

P.S. The special interest group opposing dental therapy is spreading mis-information and lies…it’s important that we act today so that our lawmakers have accurate information!  Take action now!
