Monday, June 4, is Saga Dawa Duchen, the first of this year's four great festival days, on which the effects of our actions are multiplied by 10,000,000. Kongtrul Rinpoche and his students will be buying and releasing lobsters in Portland, Maine. Anyone is welcome to join us at the dock.
This form of tsethar
, the practice of life release, has become an MSB tradition over the last five years, one highly encouraged and supported by Rinpoche. Since beings value nothing more than their own lives, tsethar brings tremendous merit, and has always been a central practice of Mahayana Buddhism. This year, the saving of these lives will have the additional intention of contributing to Rinpoche’s long life and activities through the practice of shabten.
If you would like to contribute, please go to msbstore.org
and click on “Join the Life Release
.” You may also send a check made out to MSB to MSB, PO Box 4088, Boulder CO 80306.
The release will happen at New Meadows lobster Pound in Portland, Maine. There is no onsite parking so please plan to park in a parking garage and walk to the wharf. To check the time of the release please see MSB's Facebook page or sign up for Kongtrul Rinpoche's Twitter Feed. This information will be available after 8 pm on June 3.
If you would like to make prayer requests, that we will read during the tsethar practice, you may send them to email@example.com.
Yours in the Dharma,
