Winter Stableford Competition
Tomorrow, Saturday 27th sees the Individual Stableford, this winter's penultimate competition which is open to all members.
There are still some tee times available, which can be booked through Ian in the Pro Shop 0141 779 1943. The forecast for the weekend is cold and dry, and a good turnout is expected.
If you're out playing this weekend, you will notice some significant changes that have been happening across the course as part of our winter programme.
Whilst the main focus over the winter is improvements to our drainage, the last couple of weeks has seen some excellent use of a tree spade, moving and replanting 43 trees, most noticeably down the right hand side of the 17th fairway.
The trees bring an added dimension to play and make a great visual impact on both the 17th and 18th holes, and with further trees planned at the 4th, we hope that members and visitors alike will appreciate the improvements that are being made as we head towards the warmer months.
Tickets are still available from the bar and Pro shop for the Darts Exhibition evening on Saturday 5th March at 7:00.
Organised by the Crow Wood darts team, funds are being raised for St. Lucy's Communication and Language unit.
Please come along and support this very worthy cause, on what should be a very enjoyable evening.
We have another couple of social events in the calendar for the opening of the new season, and further details will be provided in due course. For now you should save the date for
- Golf Rules Quiz Night - Friday 29th April
- Stars in their Eyes - Saturday 7th May
With signs of spring very much here, and days getting longer and brighter, entry sheets open for some of our key competitions next weekend (Saturday 6th March).
- Sprot Cup (Handicap singles)
- Sir John Hunter Shield (Foursomes)
- Crow Wood Quaich (4-ball, better ball)
- William McCall (mixed foursomes)
Entries for the Sam Tennant Memorial Trophy (3 player team strokeplay) also open later this week on the 11th. All entries should be to Club professional, Ian Graham.
Full details will be available in the 2016 Fixture cards, which can be collected from the office on settlement of your annual bill. Please note that bills are now being prepared and issued, and if you haven't received yours by next Friday, 4th March, please contact the office.
