Images of 2016

Some great golf was enjoyed at Crow Wood in 2016, and the course saw a number of changes and improvements throughout the year. The newsletter captured some wonderful images of the course, and we thought it would be a nice way to start the year, to remind ourselves of the season past.

With 2017's arrival, spring is now just round the corner, and the longer and warmer days are within touching distance. We may reside in the West of Scotland, so rain, wind and sunshine can be expected most days, but as the pictures show below, golf at Crow Wood is definitely a year round event.

January got off to a frosty start, but with the air as clear and fresh as this, it was a great way to blow away the cobwebs.(1st Hole - Right)

February feels just a shade warmer, looking across to the 18th green (left).  Beautiful sunshine and a blue sky makes a round of golf a pleasure, even with a few layers on.

March and the arrival of spring, sees new trees on the fourth hole now in play. The weather is starting to turn for the better and the days are noticably longer.
Thoughts turn towards the first competitions of the year.

April arrives, and the growing season can only mean two things...Bluebells (left) at the side of the 10th and sheep, playing their annual 12-ball

May- The best month for many, as we normally get a couple of weeks of good weather that kick starts the course. A beautiful setting around the practice green welcomes all visitors.(above left). The entrance to the first tee (below left) looks equally as inviting.

June & July - You can almost feel the heat. Competitions are in full flow, the greens are at their best, and it just feels good to be out on the course. The 18th (right) and 12th (below) look so inviting.

August - Shorts could be the order of the day here.
(6th Tee- Right)  A glorious morning, with the tees and greens ready to go. The rough is now at its most penal, so just keep it on the short stuff.

September - Finals month and the greens are pristeen. Congratulations to all the finalists and the eventual winners. The morning's have turned a little cooler, but looking across the 3rd green, the course was still a pleasure to play.

October - Decisions,Decisions - Clubs in the garage or play through the winter?  If you chose the former, you really are missing out, now that the course is playable all year. There might be a few less leaves on the trees, but it's still a challenge.(11th fairway- right)

November - A bit cloudy, some more rain, but temperatures unseasonably high. Once the mist "burned" off, it was business as usual. (Below - Looking from the rear of the 10th tee)

December - Some simply stunning days throughout December let golf carry on as normal. As long as you were sensible on the few frosty days, we were able to enjoy almost unbroken golf throughout the year.

   Welcome to 2017!
