Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Merry Christmas and a healthy, happy and a prosperous New Year from all of the Staff and Committee at Crow Wood.
The year seems to have flown in but the good news is that, by the time you have read this, the days are starting to get longer, and the warmer months getting that little bit nearer. We had some excellent golf in 2016, and anticipate that 2017 will be even better. Have a great holiday.
Annual General Meeting
Please note that our AGM is on Thursday 19th January, 7pm. All members are welcome to attend, and can submit any questions in advance, via Margaret in the office. The annual report will be distributed by email no later than 30th December, with additional copies placed behind the bar.
The main works in the last two weeks has been around the 10th green surround and fairway. The drains have been formed and will be back filled next week, whilst the bunkers have been shaped and drained, and will be completed next week.
Liam McWilliams and James Kelly have completed their chainsaw training course and are both now formally certificated to use them.
And finally, all greens staff will attend the BIGGA (British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association) convention in Harrogate in January 2017 as part of their continuing professional development.
The painted white lines in front of most greens are there to protect the course during the wet winter months, especially around soft, vulnerable areas such as aprons, and around bunkers. Please respect these restrictions and do not take trolleys or buggies past the lines.
Although play is not permitted from the fairways, it is acceptable to use your putter inside the white lines as this won't cause any damage to the course.
Please still use common sense elsewhere on the course, avoiding sensitive, worn or damaged areas. This will help the course to get off to the best possible start in the spring.
A number of people have volunteered to take a role in supporting our Junior section and creating the best environment for our youngsters, whether that be matches, competitions or the social side. There is still time to put your name forward if you want to be part of this Juniors committee, so please let Margaret know if you can spare some time for the 2017 season.
As previously communicated, Kieran McCormick will be conducting junior coaching during the Christmas break, every Sunday, until 22nd January (excluding Christmas day and New Years day of course) from 10am-11am. All 6-14 year old are welcome to participate at a cost of £3 per session, payable on the day.
Kieran is currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Professional Golf, at the University of Highlands and Islands, based in Dornoch. Thanks to Kieran for giving up his time to help our younger players.
Please ensure you advise the Pro Shop on the Saturday prior to the session if you wish to attend.
