Christmas Party - Saturday 17th December

A final reminder that tickets are still available for one of our most exciting events of the year, the Crow Wood Golf Club Christmas Party.

All members are invited to dance the night away with our live band, or relax and enjoy our buffet with a refreshment or two. Numbers need to be finalised this weekend, so please let Sharyn know, no later than Sunday (11th December) if you intend to go. Tickets are priced £15 per person

Course Update

If you have been out on the course in the last couple of weeks, you will have noticed that the drainage and bunker works around the 10th hole are progressing well. It is expected that these will last another few weeks.

Progress has also been noted on the drainage on the 2nd /3rd holes around the burn, as well as the left hand side trees on the third hole.

Tree clearing and thinning work has also started around the 10th and 15th tee areas, to allow better growing conditions when the warmer months return
All the greenstaff will attend the BIGGA (British and International Golf Greenkeepers Association) convention in Harrogate in January 2017. This will help improve the teams knowledge of the latest best practices and equipment available, which should result in continual improvements in course condition.

Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice

Crow Wood received a letter last week from the Hospice thanking us for the donation of £565 raised during the Prizegiving at the end of October. Can we take this opportunity to thank all those members who attended, and the support shown for this wonderful charity.

Junior Members

A meeting will be held over the next month or so to agree the way forward for our Junior members.

A number of members have volunteered to take a role in creating the best environment possible for our youngsters, whether that be matches, competitions or the social side. There is time left to put forward your name if you want to be part of this Juniors Committee, so please let Margaret know if you can spare some time for the 2017 season.

Junior Coaching

Junior member, Kieran McCormick, will be conducting junior coaching during the Christmas break. Every Sunday, from 11th December to 22nd January (excluding Christmas day and New Year's day), from 10am-11am, all 6-14 year olds are welcome to participate in some coaching. It costs only £3 per session, payable on the day, with no booking required.

Kieran is currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Professional Golf at the University of Highlands and Islands, based in Dornoch no less. Thanks to Keiran for giving up his time to help our younger players.

AGM date

Please note that the club Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 19th January. All members are welcomed, and encouraged to attend. Questions can be submitted in advance via Club Manager, Margaret Loughrey.

Kelvin Friendship Seniors League - Annual Dinner

Crow Wood hosted the Annual celebration dinner for the Seniors League, and by all accounts it was a great success.

Food, Drink, magicians and quizzes were enjoyed, before the formal presentation of the Kelvin Friendship Seniors League Trophy.

Cawder (2015 Winners) presented this year's winners, Bishopbriggs, with their trophy, which was followed by an entertaining report on the history of the League by Bishopbriggs Captain, Harry Clark

Formalities were then handed over to our popular DJ and Karaoke star Erin, followed by a succession of singers of "varying" abilities.

A big thank you to our catering and bar staff who did a great job, and did our club proud.
