In this program, Seema Verma, will address the waiver recently granted by the federal government, permitting Indiana to operate outside of the health insurance exchange, through its Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP). Among other things, Seema will also address:
· The Healthy Indiana Plan – what changes are in store;
· State-based Medicaid expansion options; and
· The exchange marketplace – the role of a consumer.
Prior to founding Seema Verma Consulting now SVC, Inc., Ms. Verma served as Vice President of Policy & Planning for the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County (HHC). Ms. Verma also has worked as a Project Director with the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO) in Washington D.C. In her work for the State of Indiana Ms. Verma served as the architect of the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP), the nation’s first Health Savings Account model applied to a Medicaid population.

This Month's member spotlight is Brianna Johnson. Brianna is the Communications Coordinator at Suburban Health Organization ("SHO"). SHO is an organization composed of ten central Indiana Hospitals working together to promote quality, efficiency and patient access in the communities they serve. In Brianna's role as Communications Coordinator she is responsible for developing the content and processes for all marketing materials, campaigns, internal and external communications, utilizing all measures of print, internet and social media available to reach target audiences such as website and e-newsletter. She also establishes marketing committees for hospitals, and collaborates with them on media relations and joint sponsorships.
