Looking back on the London Design Festival 2015
Its been a month since this year's London Design Festival, in this newsletter we have compiled some of our highlights from this year. Read on to find out more about audiences figures, digital statistics, film and photography highlights, from ourselves, Partners and our visitors.

The London Design Festival is now a key event in the London and international design calendars, taking place across the city every September. One of the most influential events of its kind in the world, this year it was held for the thirteenth time from 19-27 September and boasted a programme of 417 events staged by over 300 partner organisations. Of these, 100 were partners taking part in the Festival for the first time. Festival audiences were significant, with an estimated direct audience of over 375,000 people from over 75 countries.

Over 2000 international design businesses took part in the 2015 London Design Festival including exhibitors at the five Design Destinations: 100% Design, Decorex International, designjunction, Focus/15, Tent London & Super Brands London. This year saw seven Design Districts participate in the Festival, from Brompton to the newest addition, Bankside, each offering a programme of events, exhibitions, talks and tours. In total there were 178 design businesses in the Districts alone. 2015 saw the Festival inhabit a new setting – that of Somerset House, which hosted several key events and installations.

As the central Hub location for the Festival since 2009, the V&A hosted a broad range of commissioned activity spread throughout the Museum. This included 14 specially-commissioned installations, over 50 events, talks and workshops which were attended by 4,900 people and regular daily tours of the Festival installations. During the Festival period, the V&A received 109,997 visitors, an increase on last year’s attendance.

22,360 posts on Instagram using the #LDF15 hashtag

Digital and Press

The digital reach of the London Design Festival continues to expand across its several social media channels and become ever more impressive.

The #LDF15 hashtag was used in 22,360 posts on Instagram and there were 28,260 posts in total on Twitter (an increase of nearly 6,000 on last year) with a reach of 35 million on the platform. Instagram showed the greatest growth with followers numbering 27,000 on the 28 September – up 265% from 2014.

The 2015 edition of the London Design Festival attracted a larger number of International press than any previous edition. Reflecting the Festival’s global audience and recognition, we welcomed over 80 press from 36 different countries, from Asia to the US and a range of VIP press from Europe.

This weekend is your last chance to see Zotem by Kim Thomé and The Tower of Babel by Barnaby Barford. Both installations are on show at the V&A until Sunday 1 Nov (opening hours are 10.00 - 17.45 daily).
