The NAIL-ing List: Neil Alexander's News & Happenings
Welcome to the January 2016 issue of The NAILing List.
Happy New Year!
As we stroll into 2016, I hope you're all in good health & good spirits! I'm not sure I've ever been busier (although I suspect that's not true). Gigs gigs gigs, recording sessions, new venues, new opportunities, new fans...and in the last month alone, things heated up in a spectacular way - doing gigs with folks like Corey Glover (from Living Colour), Pee Wee Ellis (James Brown), and many others. I'm STILL thanking the stars as my crazy gig schedule continues. Here's what's up in January:
Corey Glover - The biggest voice from Hard Rock, to Gospel, to Soul and the lead singer of Living Colour collaborates with Hudson Valley musicians to create a homage to classic soul tracks. Featuring a high-end regional line-up - including Corey Dandridge/Vocals, Neil Alexander/Keys, Josh Colow/Guitar, Neal Spitzer/Saxophones, Nicole Davis/Trumpet, William Hotaling/Tenor Sax, Brandon Morrison/Bass, Lee Falco/Drums, plus Special Guests each week.
Friday January 15th 8pm
George Brandon and the
Blue Unity Orchestra
Alchemical Theatre Laboratory
2402 West 14th St New York, NY
I first met George Brandon thru friends Nora McCarthy (vocals) and Jorge Sylvester (alto sax) in 2009, and played on his CD "Toward the Hill Of Joy". I'm thrilled to be back at the piano with this fine composer, with dense challenging arrangements, emotionally charged material, and an amazing ensemble, for a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King. And, it doesn't hurt to performing in NYC either!
Thursday January 21st 8 pm
