The NAIL-ing List: Neil Alexander's News & Happenings
Welcome to the August 2013 Edition of the NAIL-ing List.
(Note: this is
VERSION 2. Please delete the previous version.)
Greetings all!
I hope everyone's having a great summer. It's been amazingly busy here in NAIL's world, with all kinds of last minute gigs and crazy rehearsal schedules etc. The gigs have been wonderful - 2 Mr Gone shows (one at the San Severia Waffle Tent) [watch some VIDEO]; a concert at our Local CSA Stonegate Farms with my daughter Becky & drummer Bob Meyer; and gigs with the Peter Furlan Trio and the Flying Obersons. And somewhere in there I managed to play 5 weeks worth of Ballet Classes at Kaatsbaan and provide a sound system for Pete Seeger's short performance at the Newburgh to Beacon Hudson River Swim. Whew. Fantastic!

(My apologies about the duplicate email. In rushing to get this out a few technical errors slipped by me in the form of fualty links. This version corrects those.)

August is shaping up as well, with shows in a multitude of styles and settings. Here's what's coming up:

August 10, 2013, 8:00 pm IN Beacon, NY - The wonderful Howland Cultural Center (477 Main Street in Beacon NY) will host my 100 Years of Spring program which has me performing my 'Rite Of Spring' transcription along with other period works by Gershwin & Bartok plus a collection material from the "Darn That Dream" collection. Common Ground Farm will be on hand to discuss their various outreach programs (including their food justice initiative) and to present a perspective on the current flourish of food farming initiatives in our area. Interspersed within the program will be a look at fresh harvested local food, a prize drawing, special musical guest violinist Rachel Evans and more.
And just to up the level of connectedness & serendipity, my good friend and visual artist Maureen Drury has artwork as part of the Lattimore Atelier Exhibition which will be on display at the Howland through August 25h. Tickets are available right here or at the door at the Howland Center.

CD NEWS

"Darn That Dream: Solo Piano Vol 1" Continues to be well recieved, most recently in the Hudson Valley's go-to Free Magazine the Chronogram And if you missed the JazzTimes review you can read it HERE.
